Spring is on the way!

I can tell by Banana Republic online! I have a thing / obsession of buying dresses - which is odd because if you know me I rarely dress up. I have found myself searching BR online the past few weeks anticipating the new arrival of Spring dresses. And this morning I found them! Oh the ruffles, patterns, and silk! I love it.

It's February?

I returned to work today to see my K-State calendar hanging in my office. It is from Dec. 2010. I realized that I had yet to bring in my new calendar and post it on my wall. Good thing I didn't because January has come and gone - honestly I would rather not revisit the month.

My fiancé spent the last 2 weeks of January in Boston making the most of his time with his sister Carrie. She was diagnosed with kidney disease and cancer that had spread like wildfire early in January. There was nothing the doctors could do for her. She passed away on Jan 30th; we were there by her side.

There are no words to explain what that felt like - to be there with her. The Fiancé’s parents - they losing their first born child. The fiancé and his younger brother - 2 men came together in a way that I never thought would happen. Carrie's aunt Tammy was there - I have to say she knocked me off my feet. At times my adrenaline was rushing in ways that I had never felt- my emotions getting the best of me- I thought I was going to lose it. Tammy took it to a new level- her soothing tone, gentle touch and love seemed to calm the room and Carrie.

I quite honestly hope that I never have to experience this again. I know that is not reality but I hope that I can make it through with the courage and love that I witnessed last week.

Christmas

Christmas was just lovely here in KC.  Thank goodness it was not a repeat of last year with the blizzard of 2009. The Fiance's parents came into town and everyone gathered at my parent's house. Mom and Dad made brisket, cheesy potatoes, and the rest of the fixings. I made brussel sprouts and they were delicious! It was a great day celebrated with family.

As for presents - well once again I received some pretty awesome stuff, no matter how many times I told my parents that I didn't want anything and to save the money for the wedding.  They are so thoughtful and amazing!  The Fiance pulled a big surprise on me and bought me a Canon DSLR! He mentioned that I needed to quit taking pictures for the blog with my blackberry and use this instead! He is always full of surprises. I also received a very special gift from my Aunt and Uncle that live in Lawrence. When my grandparents past away in 2004, my A&U kept all of the really, really old home movies.  For the past few years on Christmas we would get out the projector and watch their old movies. There is footage of my mother as a little girl, their trip to Europe in 75 and so many others. My A&U transferred one of them to DVD and gave them to everyone. It is the first of many and I was so thrilled to receive it...it practically brought me to tears.

Later on in the day I took some pics with the new camera. Noah - my 3 year old nephew busted out his modeling moves. I promise you that he posed like this and I did not even tell him to! He is such a HAM. Also, check out Mark (6 mos) and his new haircut.

Harper & TV

My little Harper loves TV. There are times where she is so captivated by the it, I honestly think she can understand what is going on. The other night, Marley & Me was on and of course she was mesmerized by Marley. She would run up to the TV and sit in front of it. She gets so excited by the sounds and movements on the screen. I am sure you're thinking - duh Anne, it is a dog on the TV and he is nuts half the time. But look at her in the picture below. Jen Aniston and no Marley.  She is totally into it!

Look at those big ears!
