18 years and counting

Last night a few of my girlfriends and I  got together to celebrate our friend Kylee's 27th birthday.  Kylee and I met when we were 9 years old in Mrs Stevens 4th grade class.  That means we have been friends for 18 years. Over that time span we have laughed, argued, roadtripped, celebrated college graduations, jobs, marriage, babies (she has 2!!!) and most importantly remained friends. See Kylee and I are not the type of friends that have to see each other every day or weekend to keep the friendship intact.  We could go a month  or two without seeing each other, hang out and feel like no time has passed. And even though we could go months without seeing each other, I know I could count on her for anything.   It doesn't happen very often that you can find a friend or even a group of friends that will last that long, and for Kylee...I am grateful.

Happy Birthday Friend! Cheers to many MORE!

Gamer.

Modern Warfare II, FIFA, Madden 2010, Tiger Woods 2010... just to name a few...

Ashley purchased a PS3 the day after Thanksgiving. He absolutely loves the darn thing and will play for hours. He loves it so much that we bought a new TV for upstairs.  I have learned a lot about levels, prestige status, different weapons, chopper gunner....oh and how you can "knife people".  The really cool thing about Modern Warfare II and PS3 is that you can play practically anyone at anytime. It allows you to talk and listen to the people that you're playing with. I have to say the language is definitely not rated G and sometimes you'll hear babies crying in the background.

I think the next time that happens, I'll yell in the background "GO GET YOUR CHILD"

Here is a picture of what it looks like 'most' evenings at my house.  I guess the only cool thing for me is that he purchased Wheel of Fortune and UNO, so that I can play too.

5 Guys & 4 Friends

Tonight, Ashley and I went to dinner at Five Guys with Little and Cody.  Ashley, Cody and I were newbies to 5 Guys, so we were excited to try it out. I have to say it was pretty good, but definitely not good for you!

We love hanging out with Cody and Little. They are super chill and just like to have a good time.  Everyone has been super busy lately, so getting together for dinner was a great way to catch up!!

The Help

January - AXO Book Club.

Twenty-two-year-old Skeeter has just returned home after graduating from Ole Miss. She may have a degree, but it is 1962, Mississippi, and her mother will not be happy till Skeeter has a ring on her finger. Skeeter would normally find solace with her beloved maid Constantine, the woman who raised her, but Constantine has disappeared and no one will tell Skeeter where she has gone.

Aibileen is a black maid, a wise, regal woman raising her seventeenth white child. Something has shifted inside her after the loss of her own son, who died while his bosses looked the other way. She is devoted to the little girl she looks after, though she knows both their hearts may be broken.

Minny, Aibileen's best friend, is short, fat, and perhaps the sassiest woman in Mississippi. She can cook like nobody's business, but she can't mind her tongue, so she's lost yet another job. Minny finally finds a position working for someone too new to town to know her reputation. But her new boss has secrets of her own.

Seemingly as different from one another as can be, these women will nonetheless come together for a clandestine project that will put them all at risk. And why? Because they are suffocating within the lines that define their town and their times. And sometimes lines are made to be crossed.

A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope.

If you're looking for a good read with amazing characters...this is the book for you! I honestly made myself read 2-3 chapters a day...because I didn't want the book to end.

Fear the Beard.

"Neither of those opponents (North Carolina and Michigan State) will give the Longhorns as much as they’ll get from Kansas State tonight. I think the Wildcats will win on the power of their backcourt and a frenzied Bramlage environment."

Thanks to Nanette...this quote made the blog. Lets just say, we're all a little excited for the game tonight! Lets GO CATS!

Welcome.

Welcome to my very first blog!

I decided to create a blog to capture the fun and exciting times of 2010, a new decade! You probably think this is a resolution, don't be fooled that is not the case. I am frequently asked by friends and family "What's New with You". Well beware that if you ask me, I will probably refer you to this blog.  I cannot promise that I will be witty, grammatically correct or even worth reading. But someday I hope to look back and say...wow 2010 was a great year full of laughter, friends, family, cooking, vacations, etc.

I look forward to sharing with you! Happy New Year!

Thanks RV Designs for creating my beauty of a blog!
