Magic of the Season

The magic of the Christmas season is starting to make its presence at our home. The tree is decorated, the stockings are hung. The smell of cinnamon and fir trees surrounds us. Winter is finally here with roaring winds and cold temperatures. I love this time of year and I just can't get enough.

Here are a few pics of the tree and new stockings. And yes, I purchased monogrammed stockings for the pups.

The Things We Do...

For Love. This weekend the fiance was a bit under the weather. He is super congested and I think is in the beginning stages of a really nice cold. On top of that he has been working 11 hour days...and had to work again this past Saturday. So...to do something nice and to warm his heart...I made him homemade chicken pot pie for dinner and carrot cake for dessert. It worked like a charm. I can't say that it made him feel any better but at least he had a nice warm dinner!

Quick November.

Hi Readers!

Sorry I have been MIA. We have been pretty busy lately and I have been too lazy to blog. Hence my only blog in November! Last weekend we put the lights on the house. It was a mild November day in KC...so we knew if we didn't do it and take advantage of the warm air...it would be freezing at our next opportunity. I haven't taken pictures but will soon. In addition to putting lights on the house, we also purchased a new Christmas tree!! Thank you Home Depot for carrying Martha Stewart Xmas trees! It was love at first sight and there is no way I would pass up a MS tree. We put it up on Sunday evening after the Chiefs game. We made some Papa Murphy's and sang carols! Okay, I'm kidding about the carols, but we did get pizza. The Fiancé even helped...which I am sure was first time in all of the years living together. I told him he could put the star on the tree since he helped this year. He was thrilled and smiled ear to ear. Do you get my sarcasm! Unfortunately the tree is a bit too tall to have the star on top...so I will have to search for other options. Also, it took us about 2-1/2 hours to figure out how we wre going to FIT the tree in our living room. Lets just say we have new ideas for furniture placement!Pictures to come soon.

This week I am embarking on my first marital commitment :) sort of... I am forgoing having a major holiday with my family to spend it with the Fiancé’s. I am VERY excited about this because his family is awesome and we are going to Boston. But I am definitely sad...that I will miss out on Dad's turkey, mom's dressing, and the traditional Poli sausage. Since the fiancé and I a have been together we always done our own thing...he would go his way and I would go mine. It worked out fine and there were no hurt feelings. But now that we're getting married there is no more of that. So more on the Boston thing…we’re actually going to Cape Code. The Fiancé’s sister lives in Boston and we are going to visit her. She is a very neat lady and I look forward to getting to know her better on this trip. I promise to post pictures.

So here is to a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family! I hope you’re sharing it with someone special.

Things Change

This past weekend I visited a KC Classic....The American Royal Rodeo at Kemper. Lets just say it wasn't like I remember. Don't get me wrong the Rodeo was off the chain and the events/participants were terrific - just as I remember :)  But Kemper Areana has gone to the crapper. It is old, worn out, outdated and in the dust compared to the Sprint Center. We were in a Box Suite care of a friend of mine. Let me tell you it probably looks the same is it did in the late 80s. As a kid, I remember going to the IHL - KC Blades, Comet's soccer games, Big XII games.  And now, I can't think of a reason to ever go back.

Like I mentioned earlier. The Rodeo was aweome - horses, bulls, calfs roping, barrel racing, etc. What an amazing sport to be a part of. See pictures below - sorry, the arena is dark, gloomy, and I was shooting with the blackberry.

On a lighter side... on Sunday we did a fun wedding activity! Crate & Barrel registering!!! hip hip hooray. It was definitely hard to make decisions on the spot...so on a few of the items we picked several that we like...and will eventually make up our mind! Oh the decisions to make in the wedding process!

GaRaGe SaLe

Today, I took off work to spend the day with my Dad. We're having a garage sale. My parent's neighborhood has an annual sale and they were planning on participating. Therefore, I thoroughly went through my house 2 weeks ago finding things to sell. I came up with PLENTY.   I am typically not a pack rat and perform routine house cleans in the Spring and Fall.  For those of you that know me...I am sure you're not surprised. I arrived at my parents house promptly at 7 am. The sale started at 730. My dad - made a new pot of coffee and even bought me doughnuts! Yummy... he knows how to win my heart! We had our first sale prior to my arrival. My mother's friend at work - her husband bought The Fiance's black and white Mustang Flag. I am not surprised that The Fiance got the first sale of the day - it is just his luck.

If you're looking for something in particular...give me a call. We just might have it up for SALE!

Pumpkin Treat

I am so glad that it is September. I know that it is technically not Fall for another few weeks, but I anxiously await the changing of the trees, the smell of a cool/crisp fall morning, and of course Pumpkin EVERYTHING. Today I enjoyed my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season. It is the first of many. If you haven't tried it, I would recommend picking one up on your way to work tomorrow. Cheers.
