this past saturday we celebrated Ashley - my friend that is getting married in may. it was her 'last' night as a single lady!! boy did we have a good time celebrating her becoming a MRS!!!!  we started off the evening with a dinner at cafe trio on the plaza. it was my first time there- and it was pretty great! after cafe trio we headed back to the roos casa for a lingerie party, chocolate fondue for dessert and some fun bachelorette games! what a fun night celebrating a truly great friend. here are some pics from the evening!!!

A Case of the Crazies

We have had some great weather recently here in KC which I think gives Hurley and Harper a case of the 'crazies'. They know it is nice outside and will sit and stare at us until we give in and take them on a walk. It is like they know it is nice outside and are just waiting to hear those words "do you want to go on a walk". They absolutely go nuts when we say that phrase. We can tell they are a bit out of shape as they come home and are pooped.

about 9 am this morning at work - this lovely arrangement arrived via ups. oh how i love tulips. the sure sign of spring! thanks to the hubby to be - what a terrific surprise!

Spring is on the way!

I can tell by Banana Republic online! I have a thing / obsession of buying dresses - which is odd because if you know me I rarely dress up. I have found myself searching BR online the past few weeks anticipating the new arrival of Spring dresses. And this morning I found them! Oh the ruffles, patterns, and silk! I love it.

It's February?

I returned to work today to see my K-State calendar hanging in my office. It is from Dec. 2010. I realized that I had yet to bring in my new calendar and post it on my wall. Good thing I didn't because January has come and gone - honestly I would rather not revisit the month.

My fiancé spent the last 2 weeks of January in Boston making the most of his time with his sister Carrie. She was diagnosed with kidney disease and cancer that had spread like wildfire early in January. There was nothing the doctors could do for her. She passed away on Jan 30th; we were there by her side.

There are no words to explain what that felt like - to be there with her. The Fiancé’s parents - they losing their first born child. The fiancé and his younger brother - 2 men came together in a way that I never thought would happen. Carrie's aunt Tammy was there - I have to say she knocked me off my feet. At times my adrenaline was rushing in ways that I had never felt- my emotions getting the best of me- I thought I was going to lose it. Tammy took it to a new level- her soothing tone, gentle touch and love seemed to calm the room and Carrie.

I quite honestly hope that I never have to experience this again. I know that is not reality but I hope that I can make it through with the courage and love that I witnessed last week.
